According to District Court 9, police can now slide the GPS receiver onto your car because the area is open to the public and you don't have reasonable expectations of privacy there. The police can then use GPS tracking.
How can you stop this without finding the GPS tracker at the bottom or even inside the car? Your first bet may be to find out if someone is chasing you. You can rotate your phone and wrong device detector here. But this is not 100%. So if you are really paranoid and want to hide your place, you should stop the chaser anyway.
